Uptown Flavors is a cultural and culinary food expo that brings the history of San Nicolas to life through food, storytelling and community participation.
Event and Project Overview
Uptown Flavors is a cultural and culinary food expo that brings the history of San Nicolas to life through food, storytelling and community participation. The event will also serve as the official launch of Legacy in the Pot, SC3's full-color heritage cookbook. Fifteen (15) food vendors have been approached to present their cuisine, including contributors whose recipes and family stories appear in the book. Together, the expo and cookbook connect a public celebration with long-term cultural documentation.
Partnership and Connection to SC3
The expo is organized by SC3 in partnership with Vibracion Cultural, a CEDE Aruba program that helps local organizations develop and deliver events through funding, guidance and practical structure. Within this collaboration, CEDE Aruba provides facilitation, financial support and assistance before and during the event, while SC3 leads the practical organization and delivery.
Volunteers
Volunteers will be asked to assist with:
- Pre-event setup: tents, tables, chairs, signs, barriers, decorations, vendor areas, and activity stations.
- Vendor support: directing vendors to assigned spaces, helping unload light materials, and checking that booths are ready.
- Welcome and information: greeting visitors, answering basic questions, distributing programs, and directing guests.
- Parking and crowd guidance: guiding vehicles and pedestrians, supporting entry lines, and keeping walkways clear.
- Activity support: assisting at the kids’ corner, cultural activities, games, and performance areas under staff supervision.
- Breakdown and cleanup: taking down signs and decorations, folding tables and chairs, checking for lost property, and completing a final site sweep.
A schedule will be provided to coordinate all volunteer and staff engagement before, during and after the event.
