Together we make Buki di Pret! Are you good at connecting people, organizing, or coordinating projects? Help us make Buki di Pret even better every year!
In the core team of Buki di Pret, there are currently five of us working to give all the primary school children on the island (around 9,000!) an unforgettable summer holiday. Every year, we publish Buki di Pret, a booklet featuring over 100 activities at various organizations on the island. It is wonderful and rewarding to do!
Buki di Pret is growing, and therefore we are looking for other enthusiasts who want to help us.
Content of the work:
At the end of the year, we discuss our plans for the coming year. From January through early April, we approach organizations to organize a summer activity. We write the text and handle the layout of the Buki. We approach and consult with community centers, schools, and other organizations to reach the island's most vulnerable children. The Bukis are printed, and starting in June, they are distributed to more than 50 schools, participating organizations, and sponsors on the island. The activities take place during the summer holidays, but you do not necessarily need to be in Aruba to participate.
The workload in the months from January through early April is approximately one day per week. From April through July, it is approximately 4 hours per week. Additionally, it is nice (but not a must) if you can also help with customer service during the summer holidays and attend some activities to take photos for social media or check how the activity is progressing.
You can take on the work fairly independently at the time that suits you best. We have monthly meetings, and if we need each other, we know how to reach out. You can also choose to take it on with a friend, so that you can visit organizations together.
What is the social impact?
Buki di Pret gives you the opportunity to connect with all kinds of local organizations and people on Aruba. You get in everywhere, so to speak. It expands your network. Additionally, we are connected as a team. How we shape that in the coming year is up to the "new" team that is forming.
Are you that enthusiastic go-getter? Do you enjoy approaching new and existing partners in Aruba and getting them excited to participate in Buki di Pret (again)? Or are you good at organizing, maintaining an overview, and coordinating projects? Do you really want to create something tangible? Then we would love it if you joined our team!

As a foundation we ask companies, organizations and associations on our beautiful island to help us organize a fun or interesting activity. We collect these activities in a booklet that we hand out annually to all primary schools on Aruba to approximately 9,000 children. Our goal is to offer children on Aruba a fun and educational holiday, where they can discover their talents. We do this with a small, committed and enthusiastic group of volunteers.
