Become a buddy for our international volunteers staying in Aruba for 6 months! Regularly meet with them to help them feel bon bini in Aruba.

We're looking for friendly and culturally curious individuals to become a "Buddy" for an international youth volunteer. Over a period of 6 months, you will help with guiding, supporting, and building friendships with your international counterpart.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • One-on-One Conversations:
  • Regularly meet with international volunteers to discuss challenges they may face, both personally and professionally. Share your knowledge about local culture, provide practical advice on navigating Aruban life, and engage in meaningful dialogue that creates intercultural understanding.
  • Language Exchange:
  • Help the international volunteer improve their language skills, whether it's Papiamento, Dutch, English, or Spanish. In turn, you’ll have the chance to learn new languages or improve your fluency in others.
  • Cultural Activities & Engagement:
  • Plan and offer various activities that showcase Aruba’s rich heritage. These can include local culinary experiences, exploring the island’s traditional music and dance, or even participating in cultural events together.
  • Culinary, Cultural, and Music Exploration:
  • Introduce the international volunteer to the local food scene, music, and arts of Aruba. From cooking together to attending concerts or cultural festivals, you’ll both gain a deeper appreciation for each other’s cultures.

Why Participate?

  1. Expand Your Cultural Horizons
  2. Develop Leadership & Communication Skills
  3. Boost Your CV & Career Prospects
  4. Personal Growth & Meaningful Connections
  5. Enjoy a Flexible & Fun Volunteering Experience

About EU HUB CEDE ARUBA

The EU Hub serves as a gateway for young people and youth workers to access opportunities funded by the European Union, such as Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). For young people, it opens doors to international mobility, youth exchanges, and cultural experiences that foster personal growth, develop soft skills, and enhance career prospects. For youth workers, the EU Hub provides opportunities for professional development, training, and collaboration with EU partners, empowering them to better support local youth. By connecting individuals to these opportunities, the EU Hub helps build a stronger, more inclusive youth community in Aruba. The ESC and Erasmus+ programs fall under the European Union. We, Aruba, can make use of these programs because we belong to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
